Each night of the Shakedown our participants put on a flame throwing demonstration.  It is a safe and organized event. It will be held in the gravel open area on the south end of the nature center.  Listen for announcements during the event for times and location.

We ask all spectators to stay clear of any vehicle traveling to and from the demonstration.  We also ask that you stay back in designated areas and do not stand anywhere near the vehicles. We will not start the event until spectators are at a safe distance. We will also stop it if spectators go past barricades.

  • Anyone who would like to participate in the flame throwing demonstration must attend the driver meeting at 7:30pm each day they would like to demonstrate.  You may be asked to have us inspect your flame system for safety.

  • Any fuel or fluid leaks will disqualify you from any demonstration.

  • Flame throwing only allowed in designated areas, during the time we have designated for the display. Anyone caught lighting off flames any other time, will be ejected from the show, no refund.

  • Fully welded exhaust is preferred. Leaky or poorly constructed exhaust will disqualify you.

  • If any of our staff asks you to shut down your flame throwers, you must do so immediately.

  • Your flames MUST be self igniting.  No lighting with lighters by hand.

  • No propane injection.

  • Driver and any support people you need for your display must be 100% sober. Any alcohol consumption will remove you from the display.

  • Any unsafe behavior will result in an immediate ejection from the event.
